Wissota Jewelry is made from items that appeal to me because of their color, design and shape. Semiprecious stones like jasper, agate, and turquoise come in a wide variety of colors and patterns making for simple and inexpensive, yet elegant designs. The bracelets and necklaces can be worn with numerous casual or dressy outfits. Shells like abalone shimmer with contrasting colors and pick up shades from a variety of colors in any wardrobe. Pearls highlight the elegance of a wedding dress or funky colors of a Mardis Gras ensemble.

Beads are concrete and tactile and have been used throughout time for decoration, trade and spiritual traditions. My Celtic heritage and family history inspire my choices including using hematite and smokey quartz. Hematite was mined on the Iron Range of Minnesota where I grew up and gained pride from the mining tradition of Cornwall on my father's side. Smokey quartz is the national stone of Scotland where my mother's family came from and is said to dissolve emotional blockage, clear the mind, and increase joy in living. When I wear a necklace with this stone, I feel protected. However, nothing tugs at my heart more than the colors and patterns on a Lake Superior agate, the official stone of Minnesota. Called Gitchigumi meaning "big water" by the Ojibwe tribe, Lake Superior produces some of the most beautiful and valued agates in the world.

The beads and stones used to make the Wissota Jewelry line come from internet resources and whever possible from local stores. I am dedicated to designing the jewelry that is high in quality and affordable to my consumer. I put a piece of myself and my history into every design and am continually inspired to create new and exciting jewelry for the uncompromising woman of today.
